The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has successfully obtained a visa for fast bowler Mohammad Amir, allowing him to join the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. This achievement comes after initial uncertainty surrounding Amir’s participation due to visa complications.
According to sources within the PCB, the logistics department is currently occupied with the arrangements for Amir’s flight to Dublin, ensuring that he can promptly join the team for the series.
While Amir’s availability for the opening match remains uncertain, there is optimism that he will be able to participate in the second and third matches of the series.
Initially, Amir encountered obstacles with his visa application, leading to its rejection by the Ireland Embassy, despite being submitted alongside the team’s applications. This rejection raised concerns within the PCB, prompting them to raise objections with the Cricket Board of Ireland.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took personal interest in resolving the issue, underscoring the board’s dedication to addressing logistical challenges faced by its players.
Following the intervention and resubmission of Amir’s visa application, it has been approved, paving the way for his inclusion in the Pakistan cricket team for the Ireland series.
This development comes as a significant relief for both Amir and the PCB, highlighting the board’s commitment to facilitating smooth logistics for its players ahead of crucial tours and tournaments.
The three-match series is scheduled to commence tomorrow, with subsequent matches on May 12th and 14th, all taking place at Clontarf.
